Charles Lee Eilers

JACKSONVILLE — Memorial services for Lee Eilers of Waller, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sat., April 20, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville.

Lee Eilers, 93, passed away on March 29, 2013.  He was born in Minonk, Ill. on Nov. 23, 1919, the first of four children to Tjark and Ruth Eilers.  Lee was raised and educated in the rural Orchard and Osage, Iowa areas.

Lee joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1947.  While on leave in Orange, Texas, he met his future wife, Inez White. They were married on Dec. 23, 1946 in Jacksonville.  After his honorable discharge in 1947, they settled in Iowa to farm with his family.  In 1954, Lee and Inez moved to the Northshore community in Houston.  After 30 years of employment with Armco Steel, Lee retired in 1984 as a Journeyman Electrician.  They moved to Inez’s childhood home in Tecula,  (Jacksonville, TX). In 2008, Lee returned to Houston to be closer to family.

Lee is preceded in death by Parents: Tjark and Ruth Eilers; Wife of 54 years:  Inez; Infant daughter Catherine; Son Robert; Sisters Lucille Francis & Marie Love; and a Brother Dean Eilers.

Survived by daughter and son-in-law of Denver, Colo., Linda and Marvin Schmidt; daughter & son-in-law of Waller,  Ruth Ann and Bob Knox; grandchildren and great-grandchildren
