L. Ray Dafft

JACKSONVILLE —  Funeral services for L. Ray Dafft, age 88, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Bob Huddleston and Rev. Michael Mathis officiating.  Interment will be at Meador Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Mr. Dafft passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Jacksonville.

He was born June 29, 1925 in Commerce, Texas.

L. Ray served in the Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville for over 45 years. L.Ray enjoyed spending time reading, watching Westerns, and loved being with his family and around people.

L. Ray was a truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, James Dafft.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Agnes Dafft of Jacksonville; sons, Lewis Dafft, Jr. and wife Mollie of Jacksonville, Gary Wayne Dafft of Amarillo; daughters, Linda Johnson and husband Michael of Jacksonville; Cherry Lee and husband Mark of San Antonio; brothers, Sammy Seagroves of Jacksonville, Bobby Seagroves of Tyler; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bateman, Steve Bateman, David Anderson, Juan Rodriguez, Jake Harned, and Johnny Smelley.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, April 5, 2014 with family receiving friends from 6-8p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
