Phillip Ware Grimes, of Jacksonville, passed away at age 69 on February 3, 2013.
Mr. Grimes was born on June 15, 1943, in Amarillo, to John Buster and Elsie Mae Grimes.
He went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a linguist before moving to Jacksonville and starting a family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dixie LaMont Grimes; his parents; his brother, John Grimes; and his sister, Linda Palmer.
He is survived by his children, Jack and Christi Grimes of Austin, Wendy and Andy Clark of Alto, Adam Grimes of Austin, Benson and Courtney Grimes of Jacksonville, Charles and Tamra Maines of Oklahoma, Robert Means of Texas, Angela and Roel Ramirez of Jacksonville; his grandchildren Drew Boone and Jackson Grimes of Austin, A.J., Elise, Geneva Jane, and Olivia Clark of Alto, Kortlynn, Branson, and Emersyn Grimes of Jacksonville, Sarah, Blake, Landry, and McKinley of Oklahoma, Raven and Ryan Ramirez of Jacksonville; his brother Gene Grimes of Jacksonville; his sister Bess Brobst of Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family plans a memorial service for noon on Saturday, February 16, at First Christian Church, Jacksonville
