Roberta “Granny” Haight

JACKSONVILLE — Memorial services for Roberta “Granny” Haight, 66, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sun., March 3, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with the Rev. David Moore presiding.

“Mrs. Bobbie” was born March 4, 1946 in Farmington, Maine and passed away Mon., Feb. 18, 2013 at her home, surrounded by loved ones, in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Bobbie will be remembered for her 20 plus years of volunteer work with the Children’s Christmas Tree. She was a true angel here on Earth. She was a loving and a generous person and always a pleasure to be around.

Mrs. Bobbie prided herself on her family and the work she did with the Children’s Christmas Tree. She was  known to many people as ‘mom’ or ‘granny’ and extended her home to all in need. Words cannot explain what a wonderful woman she was.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Foss and Dorothy Gordon, sister Janet Christain, husband Robert Haight, her two sons, Joe Stringham and Donnie Stringham and great-grandson Timothy Bovard.

Her survivors include sister Rhoda Gardner, brother and sister-in-law Charles and Helen Foss and brother James Gordon. Children Cindy and Ronnie Grant of Silsbee; Kimmi and David Daniels of Rusk; Janet McDaniel; Bobbi and Joey Casper, and Marvin Haight of Jacksonville and Patrick and Elzbieta Pettingill of Honolulu, Hawaii; 31 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Christmas Tree fun in her honor at Austin Bank in Jacksonville. A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler for the care and compassion shown to her family.
