Wynona “Nonie” Crawford Long

RUSK — Funeral services for Wynona “Nonie” Crawford Long, 89, of Rusk are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, May 12, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church in Rusk with Rev. Jacob Smith officiating.  Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mrs. Long passed away May 8, 2014 in a Rusk nursing home.  She was born November 12, 1924 in Alto, TX to the late Thomas Ragland and Nona Mabel Thomas Crawford.  Mrs. Long was a resident of Rusk most of her life and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rusk where she spent many years as a Sunday school teacher.  She also participated in the Church vocal and hand bell choir.  Mrs. Long also served as a volunteer in the Rusk Memorial Hospital “Pink Lady” Auxiliary.  Many of her fondest memories were appearing and being involved in several musicals at the Cherokee Civic Theater in Rusk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Duncan Long, two brothers, Ralph Crawford, J.M. Crawford, sister, Marguerite Pryor.  Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Frances Long of Rusk, Larry and Beth Long of Rusk, sister-in-law, Dorothy Marks of Temple, TX, two granddaughters, Ashley Long of Dallas, TX, Stacy Long Preiser and husband Justin of Napa, CA, one grandson, Neill Long and fiancée Casey Morris of Kemah, TX.

Pallbearers will include Danny Christopher, Mike Crysup, Scott Jared, Bill Marks, Johnnie Richey, Jimmy Thompson, John Williams III, Charles Hassell and Lester Hughes.  The funeral home will be open between 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2014 for anyone who would like to come by and pay their respects.  There will be no formal visitation.
