Ray Jean McDuff


Funeral services for Ray Jean McDuff, 71, of Rusk, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Bircher and Brother James Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Rusk Memorial Cemetery in Rusk, Texas, under the direction of Brooks Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors.

Mrs. McDuff died November 4, 2013, in Tyler. She was born June 19, 1942 in Rusk, Texas, and attended George W. Bradford School in Rusk.

Mrs. McDuff was a lifelong resident of Rusk,, and a member of Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was Senior Choir president, Sunday School secretary, president of the Missionary, Heroines of Jericho Court # 356.

She retired from Rusk State Hospital after 28 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul McDuff, parents Joe Willie and Thereas Parks, and a brother, Ellis Ira Parks.

Survivors include her three sons, Derrick (Cynthia) McDuff of Jacksonville, and Anthony McDuff and Gregory (Indus) McDuff of Tyler, Texas; a daughter, Kindi McDuff (Ronnie) Shepard of Rosharon, Texas; a sister, JoAnn Pipkins of Irving; six grandchildren, Rawlisha Session, Christian McDuff, Derrick McDuff Jr., Dyran McDuff, Braneesha McDuff and Jayla McDuff; and one great-grandchild, Belvis Singletary Jr.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Session Jr., Dr. Wesley Foreman, Marcell Jefferson, Oliver Sturns, Ray Christopher Jr. and Bruce Bradley.

Family will receive friends and visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
