Funeral services for Jimmy Cannon, age 78, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wed., Aug. 21, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Bobby Meyers and Rev. Mike Bowen officiating.
Burial will be at Jarratt Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Cannon passed away Sun., Aug. 18, 2013 in Tyler. He was born March 28, 1935 in Jacksonville.
Jimmy served in the National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Mt. Selman Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Petus and Jim Cannon; brother, Jack Cannon.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bethel (Nanny) Cannon of Jacksonville; sons, Mark James and wife Debra of Jacksonville, Terry Cannon and wife Gina of Jacksonville, Dave Cannon and wife Rose Mary of Jacksonville, Roger Cannon and wife Molly of Crandall, Ted Cannon and wife Paula of Tennessee Colony; daughters, Kay James of Jacksonville, Peggy Walley and husband Jimmy of Rusk; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Cannon and wife Mary of Jacksonville; sister, Mary Pat Cannon of Oakwood; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Billy Lynn Dyess and wife Mary Jane of Jacksonville, Neal Dyess and wife Helen of Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Luke Cannon, Mathew Cannon, Tyler James, David Michael Walley, David Justin Cannon, and TJ Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Stewart, Ronny Morison, Don Magee, Bubba Lake, Bobby Fuqua, and Ted Burns.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tues., Aug.19, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Brazil and the nurses at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
