Funeral services for Lucille Vansickle age 96 of Lindale are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in the Walker Chapel Cemetery in Reklaw.
Mrs. Vansickle was born April 7, 1916 in Abilene, the daughter of the late James E. and Lucy (Stallings) Holland. She left this life peacefully to go be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tues., Feb. 12, 2013 in Tyler. Mrs. Vansickle lived in East Texas all but four years of her life. She resided in Lindale for the last 13 years, with 12 of those years with her daughter and son-in-law. Before moving to Lindale she lived in Jacksonville for 36 years, New Summerfield for nine years and Reklaw for many years. Mrs. Vansickle was a member of the Beall Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville where she was involved with quilting and WMA and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Vansickle was preceded in death by husbands, Newton Gilbreath, John H. Hughes and Lemuel Urban Vansickle; 2 sons, David Lee Gilbreath and Carroll Dean Gilbreath; 15 siblings; 2 grandsons, Justin Lee Gilbreath and Jay Paul Gilbreath; step son, Olen Earl Vansickle and a step grandson, Wayne Vansickle.
She is survived by her daughter, Maudie Gilbreath Dudley and husband Wilburn (Butch) of Lindale; sons, James R. “Jim” Gilbreath and wife Betty of Cypress, Johnny M. Hughes of Lindale; step sons, Charles Ray Vansickle and wife Emily of Santa Maria, California, Cleadath Vansickle and wife Pam of Shreveport; step daughters-in-law, Corese Vansickle of Grand Prairie Louise Lyons of Mesquite; sister, Lizzie Bell Hilliard of Hemphill; 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
