Letters to the editor for March 18

What do you do when your hero falls from grace? You know, the kind of hero you grew up with, a brother ... a real brother you have personally known.
All my life this brother was a role model to me. Last night as I visited him in jail he showed me a letter written by one of his former students. the student simply wanted to say how much she cared and that he was one of her favorite teachers ... the kind that made you work for your grade but made you enjoy the class at the same time. This student did not excuse Bo for any wrong he did. She said, “Sin is sin, is sin, is sin.” she simply wanted to encourage him by being kind ... by telling him how much he had meant to her.
That letter to Bo Scallon, a former 28 year English teacher from Tusk, Tx., made me wonder if others might be willing to express to him their concerns ... to say to Bo we don’t excuse anything you may have done but we won’t forget either the times you made us laugh, or otherwise enjoyed being in your class.
I don’t excuse Bo either, but I love him still. If you wish to write to Bo please do so at: Harold Scallon #95350, 101 E. Methvin Ave., Longview, TX 75601.
