Mixon FBC fish fry
Mixon First Baptist Church will hold a fish fry from 5:30 p.m. until the fish runs out Saturday, April 18 at the church in Mixon. Meals include Southern fried catfish with all the trimmings. Casual Christian music will also be offered. Tickets are $10; $5 for children ages 12 years and younger. Proceeds benefit the church.
New Prospect Usher service
Pastor Charles Cummings and the New Prospect Baptist Church family invite all area pastors and churches to the annual Usher Celebration at 3 p.m. Sun day, April 19. The program theme is “A Doorkeeper in God’s Palace” from Psalm 27:4.
Special guests for the occastion are the Rev. Londa Davis and Corinth Missionary Baptist Church of Bullard.
Deacon Philip Gordon Sr. of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church Usher Staff will deliver the Usher address.
Refreshments will be served.
Greater Mount Horeb celebration
Greater Mount Horeb Baptist Church is presenting a ballroom extravaganza in celebration of the Rev. Michael Hollie’s and Lady Elaine Hollie’s third pastor and wife anniversary.
Everyone is invited to attend to attend this elegant occasion at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at the church, 211 N. Gillespie St.
Guest speaker will be Bishop James L. Berry of New Birth Church of the Living God, Jacksonville.
Children’s Choir musical
Rusk First Baptist Church’s Children’s Choir will present a musical at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at 372 E 4th Street.
Healing ministry
River of Life Christian Center and school of ministry invites the community to experience the healing ministry of Pastor Thurman Scrivner, who will minister from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24, and at 7 p.m Wednesday, at the center, on Hwy. 69 N, in Rusk.
Women of Grace spring conference
The Women of Grace annual spring conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Southside Baptist Church, Palestine. Guest speaker will be Patti Foster who will speak about her life motto “MAD Now - Make A Difference Now.” Music will be by Elkhart First Baptist Church ladies trio. A love offering will be taken.
Women’s conference
Deadline to register for Mixon First Baptist Church’s women’s conference is May 3. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at the church, 4975 FM 177 E, Troup. Registration fee is $10 or $15 at the door. Lunch is included. Theme is “Prepare to Meet the Bridegroom.” Call 903-842-4548 for more information.
Sermon series on Prophecy, End of Times
Dr. Nathan McBride, pastor of First Baptist Church in Neches, will begin a series of messages on Prophecy and End of Times at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 19. McBride has done considerable study on prophecy and end time events in his doctoral studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
“This series is very timely, considering all that is happening in society today,” said Jerry Watters, minister of Music and Education. “We are sure everyone will benefit from this special sermon series that will be offered every Sunday evening.”
