Rocky Springs to have Youth Sunday, shower

On Saturday, Aug. 23, Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church will have a baby shower at 3 p.m. for Laura and David Sizemore.

Shine Time for youth begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Sunday will also be Youth Sunday. An offering for the Youth Fund will be taken during the morning service. The youth will direct the evening service.

Rocky Springs Baptist Church is located one-half mile west of Dialville on FM 1910.



Bowens Temple

presents Daughters of the King program

The Women’s Ministry and Mission Department of Bowens Temple Church of the Living God is presenting its first Daughters of the King program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. The theme is “Becoming the Woman God Created You to Be.”

The guest speaker will be Bishop Mable Berry of new Birth Church of the Living God, Jacksonville. The event is open to the public. For more information, call Cassandra Bowens at 903-343-2188 or Joyce Knowlton at 903-825-3666.



Calvary Kids’ Club begins in September

Calvary Kids' Club will begin Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, 122 Tena, Jacksonville. School aged children from the area are invited and encouraged to attend each Wednesday during the school year from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (No club meetings when students are on holiday from school).

During Calvary Kids' Club students are taught the Bible, challenged to learn Scripture, enjoy a time of games and physical challenges, sing some choruses and have a snack. Clean, wholesome, spiritual and friendship building fun.

There is an adult Bible study in the sanctuary during the same hour.

There will also be a water-filled gallon jar with a small glass in it and as the "Kids" sign in each week they have a chance to drop a quarter in the jar and if it lands in the glass they get a treat. Although not a requirement, pre-registration may be done any Sunday 9:45 a.m.

David Anderson is director of Calvary Kids' Club; Bobby Bateman is director of game time, Pam Anderson is youth director.

Women of Grace

conference is Sept. 13

Do you desire an intimate relationship with God? Join the Women of Grace conference from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 13 at Southside Baptist Church, Palestine. Worship will be led by Angela Woodard of Southside Baptist and Janie Harris of Evangelistic Temple. Music will be provided by Kendra More of Mound Prairie. A love offering will be taken.



Bowens Temple to have celebration banquet

The pastor and members of the Bowens Temple Church family invite the public to the first appreciation banquet for Pastor Chester Whitaker for his 20 years of service to the Jacksonville community. The event is at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Norman Activity Center, 526 E. Commerce St., Jacksonville.

Dinner will be served and a $10 donation is requested.

Kids First Weekday Education enrollment

Kids First Weekday Education is now enrolling for the 2008-09 school year. Classes are available for children ages 2 years, 3 years and Pre-K. Hours are 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Central Children’s Care registration

Central Baptist Church is now taking applications for the Fall 2008 semester of Central Children’s Care which will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Children’s Care programming is planned for ages 3 months through pre-Kindergarten with the goal of helping them in their mental, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual development.
