Pentecost Sunday To Be Celebrated at First Presbyterian Church
On Sunday, June 12, there will be several events to celebrate during the 10 A.M. worship. Grace Presbytery General Presbyter, the Rev. Dr. Jan DeVries will be the pulput guest. The Chancel Choir and a brass quartet from 1st Church Tyler will provide the special music and ministers, elders and guests from other congregations will participate. Rev. Vicki Griffin will be installed as regular installled pastor after having served as Designated Pastor. Afterwards, there will be a fried chicken indoor picnic in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to come and share this very special event at 411 S. Bolton in Jacksonville.
St. John’s UMC hosts youth rally
St. John's United Methodist Church invites everyone to join us for an exciting June. Sunday School is at 10:15 with worship services at 11:15. Adult Bible study and Youth Fellowship is every Monday at 6:30p.m. St. John's is hosting a Youth Rally featuring the Corey Brooks Band on June 25 at 7:00 p.m. and June 26 at 11:15 a.m. A garage sale will be held June 4th from 8-2 at the church. Central Baptist offers divorce recovery seminar
DivorceCare divorce recovery seminar and support group meets at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville each Monday at 7 p.m. Child care is provided through 6th grade. The church is located at 1909 East Rusk St. DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Facing My Anger,” “Facing My Loneliness,” “Depression,” “New Relationships,” “Kid Care,” and “Forgiveness.” The companion group, DivorceCare4Kids, for children of divorce ages K-6th grade will also meet at the same time. DC4K helps these children deal with similar issues through an age related curriculum that helps them understand that divorce is a grown-up problem that is never their fault. Break Free Recovery held
Woodland Heights Baptist Church will host Break Free Recovery, a 12 step Christ-centered program for those who are suffering from hurts, habits or hangups. The program will meet at 6 p.m. every Tuesday evening. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and meetings begin at 6 p.m. The church is located at 273 Hwy. 204 in Jacksonville. St. John’s UMC seniors hold fellowship time
The St. John’s United Methodist Church seniors hold a fellowship group at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Games, dominos, etc., and a light meal are included in the activities. All are welcome to come for the free fun and fellowship at Terrific Tuesday.

Eagle’s Nest youth center hours

River of Life Christian Church in Rusk has recently opened a Healing Room in which they offer prayer free of charge to anyone in need of healing. Our Lady of Sorrows offers tax preparation help
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church is sponsoring training to help you learn how to prepare EZ tax forms for low income, elderly or the disabled. IRS will send in trainers and provide access to on-line training, to help you learn to prepare EZ tax forms for others or for yourself. The training is free. You can help your neighbors prepare and file their tax. If you make a mistake, relax, you are not liable for mistakes. Eagle Scout wants community support
Dustin Simmons, a Jacksonville boyscout is looking to finish his eagle scout project, a prayer garden on the campus of Jacksonville College. The prayer garden is encompassed with personalized bricks which have a etched and sealed area with personalized text. These bricks are to remember or honor a family member, a child, a friend or yourself. Bricks are $35 and can have 45 characters engraved. While the project is underway the bricks are significantly discounted, after the project is completed brick prices may go as high as $100. Donations are accepted.
