God loves you unconditionally; He sent Jesus to prove it

Butterfly Ministry by Dr. Sam Smith

JACKSONVILLE — “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:8)

You can’t be so lost that God can’t find you

Your wounds can’t be so deep that He won’t bind you

You can’t be so far gone, that He won’t bring you home

You can’t be so unlovable that God won’t love you

Remember your childhood romances?  How many times did you tell someone, “I will love you forever”?  Now, can you remember their names?  We humans can fall in and out of love, or what we think is love, many times in our lives.

Not our God.  God loves us all the same all the time – unconditionally. Nothing we can do or say will change His perfect love for us.  C. S. Lewis said, “Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.”

Paul wrote, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (Romans 8:38-39)

I believe our lives would instantly change for the better if we could truly understand how much God loves us.  God created us out of pure love.  He sustains us through perfect love.  He sacrificed His Son because He loves us so much.  God is love, and all He does He does because He loves us so.  And His ultimate act of love: Jesus.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

(1 John 4:9-11)

  • Where to look in the Bible when we are in danger

When we are in danger, read Psalm 91. Verses 9-13 tell us some of the ways the Lord protects us, “If you say, ‘The LORD is my refuge, and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For he will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.”

He is the one who will answer prayers.” People may drop prayer requests in the box in front of the church.

  • What would you ask of God?

If God spoke to you and told you could ask Him for one thing and He would grant it, what would you ask for?  Before you read any further, take some time to think about that question.  If the Creator of all there is offered to grant you one request, what would you consider the ultimate gift from Almighty God?

I am so tired of being worried, upset and depressed about the future of our nation. There has to be hope somewhere.

  • Listening for that trumpet call

I was awakened recently by a loud blast that sounded like a horn blowing.  Guess what my first thought was.  Yep, I wondered, “Is this it?  Is that the trumpet call?”
