Bullard (1-8, 0-5) at Spring Hill (3-6, 1-3)

7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium, Longview

Head coaches: Jim Taylor, Bullard; Robert Bero, Spring Hill

Last week: Chapel Hill defeated Spring Hill, 62-0; Tatum defeated Spring Hill, 56-23

Last year’s meeting: Spring Hill defeated Bullard, 41-20

Game summary: Bullard will look to end a six-game losing streak Friday when they head to north Longview for the final regular-season game. Bullard’s victory came in Week 3, a 43-40 decision over Troup. Spring Hill’s post season hopes were extinguished in the loss to Tatum last week. Spring Hill, much like Bullard, has had an array of injuries to deal with in 2009.

Bullard players to watch: QB Marquez Franklin, RB Sydney Lawson; WR Kirk Bryant, DL Rhett Davis, DL David Diduch, DL Dalton Simonek.

Spring Hill players to watch: WR Scott Carter, RB Kirk Talley, QB Dylan Brown, WR Ryan Lacy.

Next week’s game: This is the final game of the 2009 season for both teams.

Rusk (4-5, 1-3) at Diboll (2-7, 1-3)

7:30 p.m. at Lumberjack Stadium, Diboll

Head coaches: Ted Patton, Rusk; Thomas Sheppard, Diboll

Last week: Jasper defeated Rusk, 45-21; Carthage defeated Diboll, 54-25

Last year’s meeting: Diboll defeated Rusk, 66-25

Game summary: Disappointing seasons come to a close for both of these teams as Rusk was predicted by many to be a potential playoff-caliber team prior to the start of the ‘09 campaign. The Lumberjacks, who have knocked off Silsbee (49-35) and Huntington (20-12) this year, were tabbed as a middle of the pack squad due to massive losses to graduation. A Rusk victory would bring the Eagles to .500, a one-game improvement over 2008, in Patton’s second year as head of the Rusk program. Rusk’s league win came over Huntington, 47-0, on Oct. 9.

Rusk players to watch: QB Trey Thrash, PK Ricky Rojo, DL John Trotter, RB Terel Carter, DB DeMarrio Richards, DB Mike Katon.

Diboll players to watch: CB Cody Stifle, TE Antonio Johnson, RB Kamran McCollum, RB Terrance Taylor.

Next week’s game: This is the final game of the 2009 season for both teams.

Note: Alto (8-2, 5-1 in District 20-A) has concluded their regular season and will return to action next week against an opponent to be determined in a Class A, Region III, bi-district game.
