LINDALE — The Jacksonville freshman Indian football team finished the year by defeating Lindale 22-0 in Lindale Thursday night. The Fightin’ Indians, the district runner-up to Whitehouse, finish the year 8-2, 4-1 in District 14-4A.

Thursday’s game featured outstanding defensive play by Chase Palmer who also made several key blocks from his fullback position on offense.

Dillon Rodriquez recovered a fumble that set up a Jacksonville touchdown while Kedarius Buckingham had three quarterback sacks with Ladarius Sessions and Mason Johnston providing standout defensive play.

Darrel Minifee, a key defensive player this year, missed the game because of an injury received in practice during the week. Minifee also had several long touchdown runs and receptions this year for Jacksonville.

The Indians scored on a Chris Ruffins 30-yard touchdown reception from quarterback, Trevor Ewalt.

The score was set up by a 40-yard run by Ewalt.

Wide receiver, Londedric Taylor, then caught a sideline pass from Ewalt and made some nice moves to take it 70 yards for another touchdown.

Taylor also came up with an 80-yard interception for a touchdown in the game.

The freshman offensive line deserves a lot of credit for their play this year. Like they say, “it all starts up front,” and these guys did a great job all year.

Members of the offensive line include, Lex Ticer, Ty Stafford, Matthew Pierce, Adam Brashear and Wayne Reed.

Leading ground gainers out of the backfield for the Indians this year were Shakil Mosely and Bryson Haywood.

Thanks to the freshmen coaches (Josh Best, Jason Mize and Chase Woods) for their consistent and sincere effort to motivate these young men to do their best.

This team played as just that, a team, and it showed on the field.

To the parents of these young men, you have a lot to be proud of. I know I do.
