Thomas, Wilkerson launch Hornets past Joaquin, 52-40

NEW SUMMERFIELD —

New Summerfield put its bigs — 6'4” Case Wilkerson and 6'1” Wendle Thomas to work on Joaquin Tuesday evening at Hornet Gymnasium and the Hornets' twin towers feasted on the Rams of Joaquin.

New Summerfield evened its docket at 7-7 after dismantling Joaquin (0-5), 52-40.

Thomas, a junior led his team in scoring by putting in 16 points. He also had a team-high 12 rebounds.

Wilkerson, a sophomore, added 10 points and caroms, giving New Summerfield two players to finish with a double-double.

William Ramsey tossed in seven points, followed by Angel Marroquin and Devin Abercrombie with five apiece.

The Hornets led 47-23 going into the final stanza, with Hornet head coach Sunny Hardy getting everyone into the action in the fourth stanza.
