Maidens fall in 3 OTs to Whitehouse

 The Whitehouse Lady ‘Cats opened up the District 16-4A slate against Jacksonville on a 10-0 run, before the Fightin’ Maidens battled back to force a triple-overtime contest on Friday night at the Whitehouse Arena.

The Fightin’ Maidens started to chip away at a 12-2 deficit to the Lady ‘Cats, however Whitehouse finally went on a 15-3 streak in the final stanza to claim a 56-44, win.

Jacksonville’s TaSheena Canady knocked down two free-throws with 19-seconds in regulation play for the fourth ie of the game and a 31-31 tie after four quarters.

Five turnovers by each team held each team to one basket in the first OT.

Cati Heredia stepped up for Whitehouse to bust a trey and a free throw for half of the Lady Cat’s in the sixth period, while Damonica Franklin kept Jacksonville in the game with half of the Maidens eight-points and a 41-41, tie going into the third overtime.

Heredia led the 15-3 run for Whitehouse with four more points (12 points in the game), while teammate, Ashton Ates added 11-points, seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two steals in the winning effort.

Full court pressure, from the Lady ‘Cats forced five Maiden turnovers in the last overtime, to aid in the double-digit final score. Jacksonville had 26 turnovers in the game and Whitehouse was not far off, committing 23 giveaways.

The Fightin’ Maidens struggled early on before finally scoring after 7:10 rolled off the clock for a 10-2, Whitehouse lead after one period.

Jacksonville rallied back in the second quarter outscoring the Lady ‘Cats,

Jacksonville (11-9; 0-1), will entertain John Tyler, on Tuesday night at 6:15 p.m. in the next district contest.
