Jacksonville 61, Hallsville 29: HALLSVILLE — The Fightin' Indians of Jacksonville closed the non-district portion of their schedule Tuesday night in Hallsville by bombing the Bobcats, 61-29. Jacksonville upped its slate to 15-6 with the win, while Hallsville tumbled to 4-12 on the year. The Tribe will be in Lindale Friday night to take on the Eagles in what will be the District 16-4A opener for both clubs. Lindale is 10-8 this season. The Eagles lost their latest outing on Monday, when Athens stopped the Blue and White, 68-50. Athens also beat Jacksonville, 80-59, late last year.


Hawkins 73, Troup 40: TROUP — Lavon Davis poured in a game-high 26 points to spur Hawkins to a 73-40 decision over Troup in a District 18-2A encounter that took place at Tiger Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Hawks led 33-26 at the break before putting the game out of reach after outscoring the Tigers 22-12 in the third period. Chance Selvidge knocked in 14 and Anfernee Ross canned 10 for the Tigers, who are now 3-1 in conference action. The Hawks improved to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in district with the win. Hawkins also prevailed in the junior varsity game, 39-27. Troup will host Frankston's Indians at 7:45 p.m. Friday.



Troup 46, Hawkins 20: TROUP — Josee Ross owned the night by scoring 16 points and hauling down 19 rebounds Tuesday to ignite the Troup Lady Tigers to a 46-20 rout of Hawkins. The Lady Tiger defense held the Lady Hawks to seven or fewer points in each quarter as Troup moved to 10-7 overall, 3-3 in District 18-2A with the triumph. Other players of impact for the Lady Tigers were Tonesha Kincade (12 points) and Paeton Nolan, who contributed nine points and nine rebounds. Completing the scoring for Troup were Emily Stone with five and Madison Hampton who pitched in four. Troup hosts Frankston at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
