Eagle baseball standout Crews to play in THSBCA 1A-3A All-Star game

RUSK —  Like most all recent high school graduate, Rusk's Michael Crews probably has a long list of things a mile long to do this summer. Now add one more thing.

Crews, the Eagle shortstop and District 19-3A Most Valuable Player, has been picked to play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game.

The Class 1A-3A game will take place at 3 p.m. on June 15 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Crews will play on the South team, that will go up against a contingent of North all-stars.

Other East Texans selected to play on the South squad include, Gunner Baker (P, Price Carlisle), Alex Phillips (P, Central Heights), Levi Smith (C, Elkhart) and Riley Smith (P, Lufkin Hudson).

NOTE: The Class 4A-5A will get under way at 7 p.m. on the same night at Dell Diamond...There will also be a Pro-type Skills Night beginning at 7 p.m. on June 14 at the Cedar Ridge High School baseball field...That event will also include a home run derby...The South unit will be coached by Mike Nnerarity (Shelbyville), Shorty Cook (Hallettsville) and Todd Doucet (Fredericksburg)...Crews and Jon Franz from Salado are the only two shortstops listed on the South roster.
