Guard to visit T. K. Gorman for Saturday matinee

TYLER —

Brook Hill will dive into the 2014 portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon by making a short haul up to Tyler to face the Crusaders of T. K. Gorman.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Brook Hill is ranked No. 8 in the most recent TABC Private School Small poll.

The Guard's 9-9 record is deceiving insofar as the Brook Hillers closed out 2013 by taking a huge step up in class ranks by taking on much larger UIL schools in both the Tatum Holiday Hoops Classic and in last week's Wagstaff Classic at Tyler Junior College.

Coach Wally Dawkins' Guard played extremely well in their final game of the Wagstaff when they fell to Class 4-A Lindale, by just four points, 61-57.

Brook Hill is led by point guard Grant Hanks, who leads the team in scorin, averaging over 20 points a night.

Alex Hale and Chase McDermott are other players of impact for the Gaurd.

The Crusaders last played on Monday when they crushed King's Academy, 94-63.

Following Saturday's outing, Brook Hill will have a few days off to make final preparations for the district opener on Jan. 10.

At 7:30 p.m. on that evening Brook Hill will entertain Dallas First Baptist.
