All former Jacksonville High School baseball players (regardless of age) are cordially invited to take part in the 15th Annual JHS Baseball Alumni Game, which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. At Summers Norman Field on the high school campus.
The day will start at 11 a.m. with the current Indian varsity and junior varsity teams going through a 60-minute practice session.
From noon until 1 p.m. the batting cages and the field will be open for those playing in the alumni game to knock off the rust and prepare to take the field at 1 p.m..
The format will be alumni vs. alumni, with current players serving as umpires and water boys.
“Its my goal for all of our baseball alumni to have a great time and to be able to relive a little bit of their past glory,” Jacksonville head baseball coach, Mike Eckles, said.
After the game the JHS Booster Club will be providing hamburgers and drinks for all participants.
Coach Eckles also explained that he will be sharing his vision on bringing back “WINNING” ways to the JHS baseball program, as well as share some of the extraordinary efforts that this season's players have made to get ready for the upcoming 2014 season.
As in past years, alumni are kindly asked to donate $35.00 for participation in the game.
All participants will receive a t-shirt, a post-game meal as well as the opportunity to share with all the highlights of their days as Indian baseballers.
Eckles said all of the money will be used for equipment that is needed to help rebuild Jacksonville's baseball tradition.
Any former Tribe baseball player that wishes to sign up should phone the athletic secretary (903) 586-1704 and provide their shirt size and current mailing address.
The deadline to register is Feb. 7.
