HOUSTON — Jacksonville's Luke McCown tossed a pair of touchdown strikes Sunday afternoon to guide the New Orleans Saints to a 31-28 triumph over the Houston Texans in a NFL preseason game that was played before a crowd of nearly 72,000 at Reliant Stadium.
McCown, the Saints' No. 2 quarterback, hit Kenny Stills from 14 yards out in the second period and then dialed up Andy Tanner on an 8-yard scoring reception with 14:08 to go in the third stanza that gave New Orleans the lead for good at 17-16.
McCown went 10-14 for 118 yards on the day and did not throw any interceptions. He finished up with a solid passer's rating of 136.3.
The Saints are now 3-0 in the exhibition season, while Houston dropped to 2-1.
