Quinlan-Ford scores 28 unanswered points to thump Troup

 Down 14-0 midway through the opening half, Quinlan-Ford proved it’s what Is up front that counts.

Quinlan-Ford offensive line controlled the ball, and the score in the second half to take a 28-14 win over Troup, on Friday night I the fourth annual Brook Hill Football Classic, at Herrington Field.

The Panthers (1-0), a Class 3A team, rallied with four unanswered touchdowns, and ran the clock a solid, 15-minutes in two second half scoring drives to seal the win.

The Tigers were ranked in the Class 2A top ten going into the game and, did manage one final score in the game but it was too late.

With 1:11 left in the game, Troup’s junior quarterback, Blake Lynch found Hitachi Lydia for a 17-yard scoring toss, and the Daniel Rojo PAT kick made the 28-21, final score.

Troup came out and appeared ready to roar taking a 14-0 lead.

Tiger signal-caller, Lynch ran for one touchdown, and threw for another but that was all the Tigers could manage after the fast start.

After jumping to a 14-0 lead, Troup allowed one big pass play, and a long drive with 19-seconds before intermission, and a 14-14 deadlock.

Lynch got the Tigers started on the scoreboard with a five-yard scoring run in the first quarter. The PAT kick was missed for a 6-0, Tigers edge.

The Tiger quarterback, had the misfortune of having a 80-yard scoring run called back earlier in the first possession, on one of three Troup penalties in the opening half.

Troup wide receiver, Brandon Hearon rolled up a lead as he raced under a bomb from Lynch for a 39-yard scoring toss. Senior running back, Hitachi Lydia ran the PAT in for the two touchdown lead, 14-0.

The Panthers scored their first touchdown of the year, midway through the second period, as tight end, Markus Laruent got behind the Troup defense, and quarterback Bryce Evilsizer found the big senior at the 30-yard line wide-open. Laruent then legged out two Tiger defenders for the TD. The Panthers PAT kick resulted in a bad snap, and a 14-6, Troup lead.

Lynch had 11 carries for 38-yards at halftime.

The Panthers put up a total 316 yards in the game, with 203 coming on the ground in 41 tries.

Evilsizer ran for 68-yards on seven carries, and threw for another 115-yards, going of 7, and the one TD pass. Jon Humphries led all ball carriers in the game for the Panthers blasting out 82-yards n 18 carries.

Troup rolled up 166-yards on the ground in 34 attempts, Lynch threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to account for 101-yards through the air amounting to 267-yards total. The Tiger QB also led his team in rushing 78-yards in 22 carries.

Hitachi Lydia made four carries to gain 50-yards for Troup. Brandon Hearon made four catches to add 54-yards interceptions.
