JACKSONVILLE —

A new coach, a new arena, but the same old winning ways for the Jacksonville basketball Indians Friday night when the Tribe routed Brownsboro's Bears, 75-44, at the JISD Gymnasium.

The victory made a winner out Jacksonville head coach Mark Alexander in his first game as Tribe mentor.

After a slow start, Jacksonville (1-0) scored 49 points to the Bears' 22 in the second and third stanzas to take a 58-27 advantage into the final segment.

Charles Kendrick and Datavian Thacker scored nine each for the Tribe as 12 Jacksonville players got into the scorebook with at least two points.

Jeremy McAnally drained two buckets from beyond the arc and tallied eight points — Daytron Thompson also ended the night with eight points.

Will Bailey had 14 for the Bears (0-1).

Jacksonville will be in Lufkin Tuesday night to take on the Pack at 7:30 p.m.
