Jacksonville College falls to Blinn in final 1:30, 70-67

Saturday afternoons at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse have turned out to be nightmares for the Jacksonville College Jaguars this month.

For the second-straight Saturday evening the JC men failed to hold a first half lead in losing to a Region XIV South foe.

It was Blinn College that rallied past the JC men this week, as the Buccaneers came back from a 39-32 halftime deficit to squeak by the Jags, 70-67, in a game that capped off Homecoming 2014 activities at the school.

Last Saturday the Jags lost, 82-73, to Lamar State-Port Arthur after owning a 39-31 advantage at the break.

JC led as late as 2:06 to go in the game in their latest outing, but it was the Bucs (15-10, 5-9 Region XIV) that took control of things in the final two minutes to cement the verdict and to hush the estimated crowd of 750 that was on hand to celebrate the day and cheer the Jags on.

A step back triple from Jalin McCloud from straight away that came with 1:31 to go in the tilt, gave Blinn the lead for good, 65-63.

McCloud led all players with 26 points, 17 of which came in the final half.

The Jags had a chance late to force overtime, but were unable to get to a shot off after inbounding the ball with 15.47 left in the game.

Unable to get a good look from beyond the arc, just left of the top of the key, JC's Anthony Sharp rifled the ball across the court in a diagonal manner, attempting to hit Malachi Christoper, who had set up to take a shot in the right corner near the JC bench, but Sharp's throw never reach Christopher, and that ended the Jags' chances.

Christopher led JC in scoring with 20 points, all of which came in the first half — he only shot the ball once in the final 20 minutes of play.
