Toss out the third quarter of Tuesday's District 16-4A battle between Jacksonville and Corsicana at Tiger Gym and things would have been a whole different for the Fight'n Maidens.
The Lady Bulldogs went on an offensive rampage coming out of the break and then held on to turn back Jacksonville 39-35.
Corsicana outscored the Maidens 15-9 in the decisive frame.
The Maidens trailed by a single point at halftime and won the fourth period 13-10, but it wasn't enough to surpass the determined Lady Bulldogs.
Calae Wilson powered the Corsicana attack by canning 14 points.
Game-high lauds went to Jacksonville senior Chancii Scott who dropped in 19 points.
Sametria Baker added seven and Jasmine Parson finished up with six.
Corsicana (15-12, 1-3 in District) went 10-of-15 from the free thrown line, while the Maidens hit 5-of-9 from the charity mark.
Next up for the Maidens (14-10, 1-3) is a date with the Lady Dragons of Nacogdoches.
That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Dragon Coliseum.
The Lady Dragons are 18-9 overall, 3-1 in conference.
Meanwhile, the Maidens will be looking to halt a three-game district losing streak on Friday.
Jacksonville’s lone district win came against Whitehouse.
