The Brook Hill School's Grant Hanks, Chase McDermott and Alex Hale were recently named to the TAPPS Class 3A all-state basketball team.

Hanks, a 6-foot-1 junior point guard, was picked for the first team for the second-straight season.

He averaged almost 20 points a night this past season and was a big reason the Guard, coached by Wally Dawkins, advanced to a state Final Four berth and posted a season record of 22-14.

Hanks was previously named as the District 4-3A Offensive Most Valuable Player.

Chase McDermott, a 6-foot-1 junior wing, joined Hanks on the TAPPS Class 3-A all-state team as a first team mention.

McDermott grinded it out in post season, despite being less than 100-percent physically (shoulder), and went on to average in double figures in all four of the Guard's playoff affairs and played a big role in Brook Hill advancing to its third Final Four in the past six years.

Another Guardsman honored was Alex Hale, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, who was named as a honorable mention choice to the all-state unit.

Hale, went off for 18 points and seven rebounds in the state semi-final loss to Lubbock Christian, while chipping in four assists and three blocks. He also was presented as a 4-3A all district performer following the conclusion of the season.

Although Brook Hill moves up to Class 4-A next season, the future continues o look bright for the Guard as all five starters will return for the 2014-15 campaign.
