19-3A Softball: Rusk's Littlejohn logs 2nd perfect game in last 17 days
RUSK — Rusk ace and University of Alabama signee Sydney Littlejohn pitched a perfect game and the Lady Eagles leveled Palestine, 15-0, at Lady Eagle park Thursday night. Littlejohn also hurled a masterpiece in her team's 10-0 win over Lindale on March 12. The No.4-ranked (Class 3A) Lady Eagles ran their record to 17-2 overall, 4-0 in 19-3A play with the win. Rusk has an open date Tuesday and will travel to Groesbeck next Friday. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
TAPPS 4-3A Baseball: Brook Hill makes short work of Dallas First Baptist
DALLAS — Brook Hill torched Dallas First Baptist 11-1 (5 innings) in TAPPS 4-3A action that took place Thursday night. Collin Mondrick drove in three runs and got credit for the win on the hill for the Guard, who are now 2-0 in conference play. Michael Greening went 2-for-2 and stroked a triple for the Guard while Blake Maddox accounted for a double. Brook Hill will entertain McKinney Christian at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
18-2A Baseball: Tigers humble Harmony, 14-1
GLADEWATER — Ryan Powell pitched Troup to a 14-1 win over Harmony as the Tigers improved to 13-5, 7-1 in 18-2A play. Troup out hit the Eagles (2-6 in 18-2A) 11-5 in the game, which went official after five frames due to the 10-run rule. Troup will return home to take on West Rusk at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Mason Mallard had two triples for the Tigers with Kody Welch adding a double.
16-4A Softball: Lindale smokes Jacksonville
Lindale sent 11 runs home in the top of the sixth inning to break open a close game as the visiting Lady Eagles crushed the Maidens of Jacksonville, 14-1 (6 innings), on Thursday night. Damonica Franklin blasted a solo homer run in the second inning for the Maidens (9-12, 1-4 16-4A). Caitlin Benson had a solo homer for the winners. Lindale is now 6-20, 2-3 on the year. Jacksonville is off on Tuesday and will trek to Corsicana for a 6 p.m. game next Friday.
16-3A Golf Tournament: Bullard girls 3rd after first round, boys 5th
LONGVIEW — The Bullard girls golf team sat in third place after the first round of the District 16-3A Golf Tournament. The first round took place Thursday at Pinecrest in Longview. The final round will be played Monday at Woodhollow, also in Longview. Spring Hill (432) was first, followed by Gilmer (469) and Bullard (471). Maci Hestwood's 107 was the low score for the Lady Panthers. On the boys side, Spring Hill led with a 310, followed by Henderson at 336, Gilmer (344), Chapel Hill (386) and Bullard (388). Will Roach carded an 85 to lead the Panther linksters.
Lindale standout Casey signs with Jaguar soccer
LINDALE — Lindale High School senior Lane Casey has signed to play college soccer at Jacksonville College. The school will be fielding soccer teams for the first time this fall.
