FAIRFIELD — Rusk took two from Fairfield on Tuesday night as the Eagles won a 10-7 slugfest that featured 21 hits in all.
Rusk held a commanding lead for most of the game and led 9-3 going into the final inning.
The Red and Black scored four times in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Michael Crews had two hits and Drew Walley drove in a pair of runs to lead Rusk at the plate.
Walley also recorded a nice effort on the pitching mound where he worked the first six innings and fanned 10 Fairfield batters.
Rusk (9-11, 4-1 19-3A) moved into first place in the district standings after Groesbeck was upset at the hands of Mexia on Tuesday.
Rusk now leads the Goats by a game.
Rusk was scheduled to entertain Palestine last night (results not available as of press time).

Rusk logged a 1-0 win over Fairfield as Chelsea Daniels plated the only run of the game.
Rusk hit the ball hard, but Fairfield did a nice job defensively in making the plays in the field.
The No. 4-ranked (Class 3A) Rusk girls took a 16-2 overall record, 3-0 in 19-3A, into last night's game against Palestine.
The Lady Eagles will enjoy an open date on Tuesday.
