HUNTSVILLE —

John Trotter, a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman got the start at left guard in Sam Houston State University's 52-21 victory over Incarnate Word.

Trotter, who was converted form a defensive lineman to an offensive lineman in the off season, was coached by Ted Patton at Rusk.

The Bearkats were able to add on to their Football Championship Series home winning streak record — SHSU pushed the needle up to the 17-win level on Saturday.

The stage is now set for the 'Kats, who are the No. 4-ranked team in the Sports Network and NCAA FCCS national rankings, as they are scheduled to host No. 2 Eastern Washington at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Eagles (2-1) upset Oregon State, 49-46, on Aug. 31.

The 'Kats defeated Eastern Washington, 45-42, last year in the semi-finals of the FCS playoffs.

Eastern Washington won the 2010 FCS national championship.

SHSU's only loss came at the hands of NCAA Division I Texas A&M.

NOTE: Cory Hamlett, a defensive back and Jacksonville High School graduate also saw duty as a non-starter in last week's game.
