JACKSONVILLE — Volleyball teams representing Troup and Brook Hill took over outright possession of first place in their respective conferences after earning wins on Tuesday night.
Troup improved to 15-12 overall and 4-0 in District 18-2A after traveling to Sabine and scalding the Lady Cardinals, 3-0, handing Sabine its first conference loss of the year.
Sabine is now 21-7, 3-1.
Josee Ross had 16 kills and Cheyney Cover added 13 to spark the Lady Tigers. Ross tossed in 16 blocks and four digs while Cover pitched in four blocks and eight digs.
Carly Dyess had 29 assists for the winners while Bethany Mason tallied 15 digs.
In Bullard Brook Hill claimed a 3-1 win over Dallas Lutheran to move into the driver's seat in TAPPS 4-3A.
The Lady Guard are now 4-1 in conference play while Dallas Lutheran slipped to 3-2 in leaague following the loss.
Bullard's Lady Panthers defended their home floor in banishing Chapel Hill, 3-0, in a District 16-3A match.
Mackenzie Fish's 14 kills, 11 digs and four aces set the tone for the Lady Panthers, who step out of conference on Friday to entertain Carthage.
Ashley Searcy racked up 10 spikes and three blocks for Bullard while Madi Hodges ended the night with 11 digs.
In Groesbeck, the Lady Goats topped Rusk, 3-0, in the District 19-3A opener for both clubs.
Jacksonville hosted Marshall in non-distirct play and fell to the Lady Mavericks, 3-0.
The Maidnes will lift the curtain on the 16-4A season Friday afternoon at 4:30 by traveling to Lindale.
