Lucio of Brook Hill named as Daily Progress Player of the Week

BULLARD —

Gabe Lucio, a junior running back/linebacker, scored three of Brook Hill's six touchdowns during the Guard's 42-0 dismantling of Dallas Shelton School Friday night in Carrollton.

And for that reason Lucio has earned Daily Progress Player of the Week honors.

Brook Hill breezed to a 42-0 win to stay perfect in TAPPS II-2 play (2-0), while running their docket to 3-2 overall.

Two of Lucio's scores came via the ground, with one score coming on a scoring reception from quarterback Zac Wilson.

All three of Lucio's scores came in the first half as the Guard built a 28-0 advantage at the break over the winless (0-4, 0-2) Chargers.

Lucio finished the night with 12 carries for 125 yards.

 

Honorable Mention

Zac Wilson, LB, Brook Hill — Wilson collected nine solo tackles in the Guard's blanking of Dallas Shelton.

Grant Hanks, DB/QB, Brook Hill — The junior do-it-all for the Guard went 6-of-10 for 70 yards through the air and rushed six times for 37 yards. On the defensive side, Hanks made an interception.

Dillon White, RB, Bullard — White took over as feature back after Brent Henderson was injured on the second play of the game. White carried 20 times for 96 yards (4.8 yards per carry) in Bullard's District 16-3A-opening loss to state-ranked Kilgore.

    In filling its opening for a head girl's basketball coach, The Brook Hill School turned to Ivan Johnson, a coach that has been has achieved playoff success in TAPPS circles.

    Johnson was introduced as Brook Hill's man to lead the Lady Guard hoop charges Tuesday afternoon in a press conference that was held on campus at the Kyle Lake Athletic Center.
