Gaitan, Kendrick spark Maidens to win over Grand Saline

BROWNSBORO —

Jacksonville went 1-1 Friday in the second day of the Great East Texas shootout in Brownsboro.

Spurred on by Mireya Gaitan's 11 points and Inchantra Kendrick's 10, the Fightin' Maidens were able to whip Grand Saline, 47-24.

Gaitan dropped in three bombs from behind the 3-point arc.

Jacksonville (7-5) led 24-12 and outscored the Lady Indians in every period.

Monica Franklin pitched in eight points for the winners.

Grand Saline was led in scoring by Emily Barber with seven.

 

T. K. Gorman 39, Jacksonville 37

In their first game of the day, the Maidens lost a heartbreaker to T. K. Gorman, the No. 23-ranked team in the TABC Private Big School Division poll.

TaSheena Canady canned 11 points for the Maidens, followed by Kendrick with nine and Franklin who pumped in seven.

Gorman held the Maidens to just 12 points in the final half to pickup the win.
