Canady, Kendrick allow Maidens to close out GETSO strong

BROWNSBORO —

TaSheena Canady and Inchantra Kendrick sparked Jacksonville to claiming two wins Saturday in final-day play of the Great East Texas Shootout in Brownsboro.

After a marathon weekend of basketball, the Maidens found themselves with a 9-5 record.

Jacksonville leveled Liberty-Eylau, 36-24, and beat Grace Community, 55-42.

Canady scored 10 points, followed by Kendrick with eight in the win over Liberty Eylau.

Jacksonville outscored the Lady Leopards 21-15 in the second half to take the consolation-bracket decision.

Monica Franklin and Mireya Gaitan pitched in seven apiece for the Maidens. Gaitan dropped in two rainbows for the Maidens

The JHS gals outscored Grace in every stanza in posting the 13-point victory.

Kendrick paced the Maiden attack by putting in a game-best 16 points, with Canady adding 15.

Franklin also had a hot hand and tossed in 14 points.

Grace swished in seven triples in the affair, but it wasn't enough to stop Jacksonville.

The Maidens will host Crockett on Friday, with the start time to be announced.
