A crowd of nearly 200 people gathered at the Peoples Family Life Center on May 5 for the annual Jacksonville College Athletic Banquet.
Micah Hoffpauir of Jacksonville, a former professional baseball player with the Chicago Cubs, was the guest speaker.
Most Valuable Player awards went to the following men: Matthew Hance (golf), Gil Lim (tennis), Everado Reyes (soccer) and Josh Brown (basketball).
On the womens side of the ledger, Sydney Cash (golf), Kailla Parker (tennis), Daisy Simms (soccer) and Deva'Nyar Workman (basketball) were all named as the MVP's from their respective sports.
Turning to academics now, four student-athletes earned a spot onto the NJCAA Academic All-Region team.
Included in that group were Will Langston and Matthew Hance (men's golf), Lim (mens tennis) and Susan Agesen (womens basketball).
Langston is a graduate of Troup High SChool.
Langston is from right down the road in Troup.
Three of the JC students were lauded as Academic All-Americans,
Hance, and Agesen were named as the honorees.
