COLLEGE STATION — Former Brook Hill pitching sensation A. J. Minter, now a member of the Texas A & M baseball team, has earned an invitation to try out for a roster spot on America's premier summer collegiate team.
The Aggie lefty, a junior, will soon be taking part in the USA Baseball Collegiate National training camp.
The camp will get under way late next week when the unit plays against various collegiate summer teams between June 21-30.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team's 24-man roster will be released on June 29, followed by a summer schedule that will include international friendship series against Chinese Taipei and Japan, as well as a journey to Cuba and the Honkbai Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands.
Minter posted a 3-0 record with two saves during the recently completed season at Texas A & M.
He ended up with an earned run average of 1.85 and held foes to an opposing batting average of .241.
Minter worked 24.1 innings out of the Aggie bullpen and whiffed 24 opposing batters.
The squad will be coached by Arkansas's Dave Van Horn, with Aggie head coach Rob Childress acting as an assistant coach.
