New Summerfield levels the Mount behind Wilkerson's 26

NEW SUMMERFIELD —

 

Spurred on by a 26-point night from sophomore Case Wilkerson, the New Summerfield Hornets ran away from Mount Enterprise, winning 78-57 before a large crowd at Hornet Gymnasium Friday night.

The win moved the Hornets to 12-11 overall and 3-1 in District 21-A-I.

The Hornets are a game behind league-leading Alto. Those two schools will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in New Summerfield.

New Summerfield did most of its damage in the first half. The Hornets enjoyed a 50-23 advantage at intermission.

Other players of impact for New Summerfield were William Ramsey (13 points, 10 rebounds), Angel Marroquin (13 points, four rebounds) and Wendl Thomas, who dropped in eight points to go along with six rebounds.

Francisco Parra chipped in five points and had seven assists and three steals for the home team.

New Summerfield has now won its last five games in-a-row.
