NEW SUMMERFIELD — Sophomore Case Wilkerson went off for 33 points as New Summerfield coasted past Cushing, 97-55, in a District 21-A-I tilt that took place at Hornet Gymnasium Tuesday night.
The Hornets (5-1 21-A-I) led 47-34 at intermission, but continued the onslaught in the final two periods by outscoring the Bearkats, 50-21.
Wilkerson went 11 of 20 from the field, including draining nine treys to pace New Summerfield, who is scheduled to visit Neches on Friday.
Wilkerson completed a double-double by tallying 11 rebounds also.
Other Hornets turning in noteworthy efforts were Wendl Thomas (16 points, seven rebounds), Francisco Parra (14 points, four rebounds) and William Ramsey, the Hornets' lone senior, who added 11 points and snared a dozen caroms for the Sunny Hardy-coached Hornets.
Angel Marroquin led New Summerfield in assists with six, while Julio Rubio wound up with a team-best four steals.
