16-4A All-District Volleyball: Ross, Hammons, Crosby lead Jacksonville contingent

JACKSONVILLE —

Jacksonville's senior trio of Mikaela Ross, Gentry Hammons and Kelley Crosby have all been named to the 16-4A All-District Volleyball team, following a vote of the conference's coaches.

Honorable Mention selections from Jacksonville were Kennison Chambless and Janzen Terry.

In addition, the Fight'n Maidens had 10 young ladies named to the league's All-Academic team.

Earning places on that distinguished list were, Chambless, Crosby, Ross, Hammons, Terry, Kaitlyn Hutson and Alaina Verhelle.

Other to earn high praise for their classroom accomplishment were, Braneesha Willis, Lexi Green and Shelby Garner.

The Fight'n Maidens are coached by Billie Walley.

Zhanelle Geathers of Lindale earned Most Valuable Player plaudits while teammate Rhyan Rand picked up Newcomer of the Year honors.

Hitter of the Year was Lindale's McKenna Allen and Taylor Layton of Nacogdoches took home Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Co-Libero of the Year lauds went to Amanda Dimon (Whitehouse) and Nicole Borger (Lindale).

Whitehouse's Ashton Ates was named as the Blocker of the Year while Setter of the Year went to Sydney Tilman of Lindale.
