Landon Beckham won the championship in boys “B” at the Van Tournament late last week, highlighting a strong effort from the Bullard High School netters.
Beckham opened the day with an 8-1 decision over Hilburn from Spring Hill.
Next he doubled up Corralles from Grand Saline, 8-4.
Beckham also posted an 8-4 decision over Hathaway from All Saints in the quarterfinal round.
Beckham's roll continued as he posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ramos from Nacogdoches in the semi-finals as well as defeating Bryan De La Rosa of Jacksonville, 6-0, 6-2 in the championship match.
In boys doubles, Cody Cole and Zach Wingate advanced to the semi-final round after earning wins over teams from Wills Point (8-2) and Spring Hill (9-8, 7-1 in the tie breaker).
The Bullard pairing of Cameron Sanson and Hunter Wages notched victories over foes representing Grand Saline (8-1) and Whitehouse (8-3) before falling to an All Saints duo, 8-3.
In mixed doubles play, Panther tennis' Cody Hutson and McKenzie Fish made it as far as the consolation semi-finals and went 2-2 on the day.
Lexi Kirgan and Reagan Whatley split a pair of matches in girls doubles.
Their win came against a duo from Sunnyvale, where the Bullard girls prevailed 8-4.
Kirgan & Whatley then lost to a Jacksonville pair in the quarterfinals.
Bullard tennis will play in the Kaufman Tournament on Thursday, the team's final action before next week's district meet.
