NEW LONDON —
The Troup Lady Tiger softball team did a lot in a short amount of time on Friday.
The Troup ladies, in just five innings, thanks to the Mercy Rule, scored 14 runs on 15 hits to slam West Rusk, 14-1, in District 18-2A play.
Seven Lady Tigers collected at least one hit in the game, with Miranda Flora going 4 for 4.
Lee Ann Lloyd, Bethany Mason, McKenzie Hugghins, Caitlin Tomlin and Dusty Neely stroked two hits a piece.
Tomlin picked up three RBI, while Lloyd, Hugghins and Neely knocked in a pair of runs apiece.
Hugghins blasted out two triples while Tomlin crushed two doubles for the Lady Tigers (13-12, 9-1 18-2A).
Josee Ross was the winning pitcher of record. She pitched a complete game and gave up one earned run on three hits while striking out 11 and issuing two walks in the 97-pitch outing.
Troup scored three runs in the first and third innings, before icing the win with an eight-run fifth.
