Hannah Roper, representing Jacksonville Middle School, won the 8th-grade girls singles championship at the Kilgore Middle School Tournament on Friday while Thomas Brewer came away with the consolation crown in the 7th-grade boys flight.
And, those success stories were just the tip of the tennis iceberg for JMS.
Meanwhile, Seth Bonner & Abraham Silva earned a runner-up finish in 8th-grade boys doubles and Ashlynn Peacock claimed a fourth place finish in 8th-grade girls singles.
JMS 8th-graders earned a pair of consolation wins in doubles play where Galilea Galvan & Dariana Cervantes (girls doubles) and the pairing of Danielle Maiquez & Nathanial Crawford (mixed doubles) posted 2-1 records, respectively.
Gabby Graham & Alyssa Luther were the consolation runner-ups in 8th-grade girls doubles.
Turning to the 7th-grade side, JMS's Angelica Alvarez & Brianna Rodriquez-Alonso captured a second place finish in girls doubles, while Xiearrah Powell & Noelia Rangel were fourth in the same division.
Maddy Crowe also came in fourth in girls singles.
In other action, Hayden Hillencamp & Taylor Phillips were the consolation runner-ups in boys doubles, while Jorja Johnson & Josh Moore finished in the same position in boys doubles.
Finally, in mixed doubles play Abbigail Mathis & Braden Alexander finished as consolation bracket runner-ups.
