JUCO Tennis: Jaguars hold at No. 13 in latest ITA poll; women up one spot

JACKSONVILLE —

In the latest International Tennis Association junior college polls that came out on Thursday, the Jacksonville College Jaguars held steady at No. 13 in the nation while the Lady Jags moved up one spot to No. 24.

The JC tennis program is in just its second season and is coached by Mark Robbins.

The top five teams on the men's side were, ASA College, Laredo Community College, Tyler Junior College, Seminole (Oklahoma) State College and Collin College out of Plano.

Laredo and Tyler join JC in NJCAA Region XIV.

Tyler is the No. 1-ranked womens team, followed by Georgia Perimeter College, ASA College, Cowley (Kansas) Community College and Collin College.

JC's Ricardo Berlinga checked in at No. 44 nationally in men's singles rankings.

Berlinga and Edgar Polanco were ranked at a lofty No. 19 in men's doubles.

Turning to the JC women, Kara Chitty, a graduate of Frankston High School, secured a No. 25 national ranking in women's singles.

In women's doubles, Chitty and playing partner Lambo Robinson, came in at No. 23 in the country.
