The 2014 state playoffs turned out to be a rough ride, and a brief one, for the Rusk High School baseball team, with the Roughriders of Center sweeping Rusk after claiming a 7-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin.
Center also shutout the Red and Black in Friday's opener, winning 3-0 as Rusk was able to cash in when having men on base.
Rusk ends it year with a record of 19-11.
The Eagles, who also defeated Rusk early in the regular season, were the undefeated District 19-3A champions and prior to opening the playoffs had won 13 games in-a-row under the direction of head coach Jason Barnes.
Center will now advance to the are round late next week and will take on an undetermined foe.
District 20-3A squads swept all of the games against their rivals from 19-3A during the weekend bi-district series.
