Texas Collegiate League: Moss helps Victoria get past Acadiana
YOUNGSVILLE, La. — Brook Hill product J. B. Moss scored and drove in a run Tuesday night in the Victoria Generals' 8-5 victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters in a Texas Collegiate League game. Moss, who is batting .287 on the year, got the start in right field for the winners. Victoria is 24-26 in the Second Half standings and trails Brazos Valley by 14.5 games.

MLB reveals Biogenesis culprits to players union
NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball has told the union which players it intends to suspend in its drug investigation and which ones will receive lengthier penalties for their roles in the Biogenesis case, two people familiar with the talks told The Associated Press.
The sides are trying to reach as many agreements as possible that would avoid grievance hearings, and talks could push back an announcement until Friday.
The meeting between MLB and the union on Tuesday, first reported by the New York Daily News, signaled the final stretch of talks.
MLB hopes to announce the penalties for all players involved at the same time, both people said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcements were authorized.
Texas Rangers: Cruz injuries quad during team's 14-11 win over Angels
ARLINGTON — Texas Ranger right fielder Nelson Cruz left Tuesday's game, a thrilling 14-11 come-from-behind win over the Los Angeles Angeles, in the eighth inning with a bruised left quadriceps muscle. He was hit in that area by a throw while running the bases in the third inning of the game. The muscle tightened up later in the game which forced Cruz to make an early exit.
Longhorns get big in-state commitment
AUSTIN — The Texas Longhorns landed a commitment from South Grand Prairie safety Jason Hall last weekend during the Horns' inaugural Texas Stampede recruiting event. Hall is a consensus three-star prospect who is 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. He is ranked at No. 96 nationally at safety by 247Sports composite rankings. Hall originally pledged (verbally) to Nebraska in May before receiving offers form Texas and Oklahoma in June. Hall is the 22nd commitment in Texas' 2014 class.
