BURLINGTON, Iowa — Supported by the strong play of Hunter Shattuck of Jacksonville, the McLennan Community College men's golf team finished in seventh place at the NJCAA Division I National Championship.
The four-round tourney was held at the par-72, 7,360-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Course.
The Highlanders from Waco came in at 1,229, with Indian Hills taking first place at 1,190 strokes.
Wallace State came in second at 1,206 and Iowa Western was third, finishing at 1,213.
Shattuck, a freshman, who played high school golf at The Brook Hill School in Bullard, carded rounds of 76-78-77-76 — 307 to tie for 22nd place in the individual standings.
Shattuck and team mate Ryan Beatty tied at 307 to lead the McLennan contingent.
A total of 22 colleges qualified squads for the tourney.
