SAINT PAUL, Ore. — Tyler McKnight of Wells and team roping partner Tyler Wade from Terrell are currently tied for the lead with the duo of Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith after two rounds in the team roping competition at the 78th Annual St. Paul (Oregon) PRCA July 4th Rodeo, which runs through Saturday.

Both pairings ran in the Wednesday morning slack where Wade and McKinght turned in runs of 5.4 and 5.7 seconds. Brazile and Smith posted times of 5.1 anf 6.0 as both teams stood at 11.1 after two runs.

The St. Paul rodeo is one of several lucrative rodeos that are often referred to as "Cowboy Christmas" that take place annually in the West and Northwest that feature total payouts that often are in the neighborhood of a half million dollars.

McKnight, age 24, and Wade won the team roping competition for three-consecutive weeks at the Mesquite (Texas) Championship Rodeo earlier this summer which served as the springboard for the pair to pack up and head west in search of some handsome pay days.
