New Summerfield flogs Wells, 71-48; Wilkerson scores 21

NEW SUMMERFIELD —

 

 The New Summerfield Hornets dropped the drape on the regular season by smothering Wells, 71-48, Tuesday evening at Hornet Gymnasium.

The Hornets finished up with a 17-13 record, 8-2 in District 21-A-I, in their first season under the direction of head coach Sunny Hardy.

The Hornets, who are the second-place team in the loop, will open post season play next week by taking on a representative out of District 22-A-I in the bi-district round.

The Hornets led 35-27 at the break, but stormed out in the third quarter to outscore the Pirates, 25-9, to put things out of reach.

Sophomore post Case Wilkerson totaled 21 points to spark New Summerfield, with Francisco Parra and Angel Marroquin chipping in 14 and 11 points, respectively.

William Ramsey knocked down seven points and had a team-high seven rebounds.

Ramsey also had six assists and five steals.
