Colby, Kan. —
Kenneth Michaud has traded in a tennis racquet for a basketball.
The former Jacksonville College head tennis coach recently became the assistant women's basketball coach at Colby, Kan. Community College (NJCAA, Division I).
He will be serving under head coach Antowin Edwards. Michaud and Edwards previously coached together at Colorado Northwestern College for several seasons earlier this decade.
“I'm excited for this opportunity and to be reuniting with coach Edwards once again,” Michaud said when reached late Monday at his Las Vegas, Nev. home. “With any new job there is always a fear of the unknown, but I'm looking forward to coaching in the best women's JUCO conference (Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference) in the country.
“JUCO athletics are huge in the state of Kansas and it is a great atmosphere to be going to.”
Michaud said that he hopes to see some old friends and acquaintances when Colby CC and the Jacksonville College Lady Jaguars both play in the Mullins Jamboree in the Metroplex in October.
Michaud, who guided both JC tennis programs to national rankings in the first semester of the programs' existence, resigned from JC late last year for personal reasons.
