CARY, NC —
A. J. Minter, a former prep standout at The Brook Hill School, was one of two members of the Texas A&M baseball team that recently garnered a spot onto the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
Minter, a junior relief pitcher, and sophomore outfielder Nick Banks, nailed down their opportunities after a seven-game tryout period.
Minter worked two games (five innings) and held opponents scoreless. He struck out three and walked one while holding foes to a .063 batting average.
Minter will be one of only two left handers on the USA roster.
The Collegiate National Team began a five-game series against Chinese Taipei on July 1 at the National Training Complex in Cary, NC.
The team will be playing on Friday and Saturday at Durham Athletic park in Durham, NC.
Team USA's summer schedule will conclude with a five-game friendship series in Cuba (July 23-27).
Prior to its trip to Cuba, the team will play in the Netherlands for a week.
Aggie head baseball coach Rob Childress serves as an assistant coach for Team USA.
